We are back up and running with the talent of Amy Celona, our web designer! I’ve always tried to live with the motto of “be a life long learner”, so over the years I’ve tried many things. I learned how to tole paint years ago, I went through the classwork to be a master gardener, much as I prefer to read a choral score I CAN read an orchestral score and fake my way through it, and obviously I decided to give stamping and paper crafting a try, but when it comes to technology – I’m about worthless! With trial, error, and lots of written notes I’ve been able to figure out posting on my website, and can maneuver my way through Google docs and office programs fairly well (don’t ask me to do the whole excel thing cause I must have failed that!), but trying to figure out why my website admin dashboard will not open – totally clueless!
And I’m ok with that! One thing I totally enjoy doing is figuring out the whole mathematical thing with designing and planning card classes. Calculating how much card stock, DSP, etc. is needed to prepare a stamping event. That whole thing with measurements, fractions, ratios, etc – love it. NOT PERFECT at it, but I can look back to my school mathematics teachers and tell them “hey, I did use some of this stuff you taught me!” LOL!
Several New Products – Both Online Exclusives AND Holiday Mini Preview!!!
I was determined to use new products with my Christmas Card Classes, which is not easy when we are limited in the number of DSP packages, etc. in our pre-orders. The card above is one of my cards from next week’s Christmas Card Class, and uses mostly products available right now as online exclusives OR products coming later this summer.
The DSP I chose came from Traditions of St. Nick DSP package that came out a year ago online only. I had three full packages, BUT needed a 4th one. I wanted to use the Cherry Cobbler pattern in the package, but by cutting it 4 by 5.25 inches I was going to be way short for the class. BUT, by cutting it 3 inches wide versus 4 inches, and adding a 1 inch strip of a coordinating pattern I was able to ALMOST stretch my Cherry Cobbler pattern for all of my cards!!! I borrowed one piece from Chris to cover me until my 4th package arrived!!!! Thank you Chris!!! And thank you mathematics teachers for problem solving skills!
For the white label on the card front I turned to the Garden Meadow dies in the Online Exclusives as well! And the beautiful bough of foilage comes from a new bundle that will be in the Holiday Mini catalog – Winterly Tree Tops!! (this was only available to those signing up for the Creativity Now online Stampin’ Up event.) I turned to the new Greetings Of The Seasonstamp set (available in July in the Online Exclusive section) for the greeting! Throw in staples such as Basic White, Cherry Cobbler, and Mossy Meadow cardstocks, rhinestones, ink, and blends, and you have a beautiful card perfect for early holiday card making!! Yes, plenty of old standbys are in the card but it show cases new products and products only available online.
Pool Boy and I have been busy cranking through the cards today and I’m down to one more card to design and prep. He has two of the card dies cut and ready to go, and currently he is working his way through 120 tiny branches that silly me decided just had to be included in the design of the third card. I had best be careful not to overdo the 4th design – I do not want to get on the bad side of Pool Boy!
I’ll be back Monday to share a project for my Monday FB LIVE. Until then, have a great remainder of the weekend, try to stay cool, keep stamping, keep crafting and God Bless!
