My goodness, are you ready like me for winter to leave and spring to hurry up and arrive???? Last week we had a short nod to the warm weather with some beautiful days, before temps dropped back down and coats and sweaters became the norm again. I know that we are still several weeks away from the actual start of spring, and the chance of frost continues til mid May, but there’s just a lift to the spirits when we have the blue skies, warmer temps, and seasonal signs like the first robin – which has arrived in Macon, MO per my neighbor’s knowledge. I saw a couple of kids out riding bikes and several were walking the Long Branch damn as well.
One of our nuns in the community back in the late 80’s loved to walk the damn nightly, and she was gifted a special hat by one of the congregation. The hat read “I’m a Damn Walker”!! Sister Mary Catherine had an Irish brogue, and there were many a tale about her. Like, her favorite movie star was Robert Redford and she had a personalized, autographed picture of him that she hung on the wall under the crucifix. Then there was the time I had the creeping crud with no voice – not good for a music teacher – and she handed me a paper bag with strict instructions NOT to open it til I was home. Inside was a bottle of Irish whiskey and a recipe for a hot toddy! AND IT WORKED! I returned said bottle in same bag wth many thanks! And it was Sister Mary Catherine that told me about praying to St. Anthony when I lost my car keys. “Tony, Tony, look around, something’s lost and must be found!” That worked as well!
To help usher in Spring, let’s talk about the SPRING RETREAT coming on Friday, March. 28 and Saturday, March 29 at Zion Lutheran Church in Macon, MO. Retreats are a great time to gather with your friends to craft, to catch up, and just to hang with people who are like minded!
Our retreat is available IN PERSON as well as ONLINE!!! We will have 8-10 make and takes for you to create, OR simply take them home and work on what you bring!!! Those requesting online will receive the same make and takes, the same goody bag, and the same gifts as well, but you get to select when you want to craft – choose what works best for you!
- Cost is $35 in person, $45 for online to cover the shipping with a goody bag valued at $25
- Receive a full package of the Beautiful Bokeh DSP, along with 8-10 make and takes
- A full spool of ribbon and also a package of gem is included in the goody bag
- Colored photos of all of the make and takes are included in the goody bag
- Drawings for prizes – BOTH In Person AND Online!
- TWO people at each table is planned, so you should have plenty of room. Let us know if you need electricity, and feel free to bring whatever you need to set up your crafting area!
Hours on Friday run from 1pm – 8 pm. Saturday hours will be 8am – 4pm. Come one day, come both days – price is still just $35! ($45 for online)
Supply your own drinks, bring a snack to share, and come and go as needed!!!! We would love to have you join us! I’ve already had several people sign up because I shared the retreat dates back in February, so please don’t wait till the last minute to be on the list.
