I thought I was ready for the cold. I was so pass the heat, the humidity, the high temperatures. Obviously I lied to myself, causing I’m freezing right now!!! It is 36 degrees outside but it could be a -36 degrees for all I care, because I’m cold!!!! The heat is on, the fireplace is going, my new warm fuzzy boot slippers are on my feet, and I’m still cold. And I’m inside the house. Don’t you wonder how I make it through the Chiefs’ games in Dec. and Jan????
Well, it’s all in the layers. Wind-resistant flannel leggings, blue jeans, then wind-blocking ski pants for the lower part of the body. Turtle neck, fleece lined Chiefs shirt, and a winter parka that is both wind resistant AND thin-sulate filled for the upper level. Throw in the insulated muck boots that Pool Boy bought me one year for Christmas – clunky but stylish with pink soles! – and two layers of insulated socks and my feet are toasty. That leaves my face, ears, and hands. I wear earmuffs and my parka has a heck of a hood, so when it’s on my head it goes pass my face about 6 inches blocking the wind, so that leaves my hands. They are the worst, and I have heated gloves!!!! And they work!!! I look like Nanook from the North ready to be in a Campbell soup commercial. All for football!! We’re nuts, aren’t we???
Moody Mauve, Misty Moonlight, Lost Lagoon, Pretty Peacock….
Yesterday I worked on my card designs for the upcoming fall retreat. I was able to gather the beautiful sheer ribbon for everyone attending right before it went on the backorder list, and the Winter Meadow DSP is so beautifu! In this card I paired a Moody Mauve card base with Basic White and Pretty Peacock for mats. Add In the new hexagon punch, an inked image of the berries using the Write Markers, and you have a simple but beautiful card for any occasion!
Stampin’ Up obviously has a creative crew of literary artists who are responsible for naming their colors and they are always using the art of alliteration! Pecan Pie, Wild Wheat, Sweet Sorbet – they just role off the tongue. Pool Boy commented years ago that Stampin’ Up had to be run by women since the names were all food-related!!! Over the years they have added color names that are for the diet-conscious papercrafter, but I look forward to seeing the names of new introduced colors each year!
Final Thoughts….
So, here I set typing this post and I can not tell you how many times I have rubbed my hands together. I have to have the coldest hands of anyone, and typing on a computer doesn’t help. Neither will playing the organ today at church. I will be blowing on my hands and fingers during the scripture readings. But there is a silver lining!!! When I leave the organ and sit in the pew by Pool Boy he will hold my right hand to warm it during the sermon!!!! And as for the left hand I sit on it!!!
Pretty sure my heated gloves will not work for everyday activities!!!!! Until next time, have a great day, find some time craft, Go Chiefs, and God Bless!!!!!
