For many years I have said the day AFTER Trick or Treating should be a Teacher Development day!!! After a day of Halloween activities, afternoon parties, for many a costume parade, and then the night of trick or treating, the day after is usually a hard day to teach. Students are worn out but still hyped up, are in a sugar coma and have probably had Halloween candy for breakfast – all combined it is not a great day to be a teacher. When it comes to educating the day is kind of a wash!
Due to a year of renovations and moves into a temporary building, our granddaughters’ elementary school is currently right next door to the OTHER elementary school – long story short, one elementary has moved into a new building finished this summer and the other elementary is having classes in that old building while their school is being remodeled – so, two elementaries currently side by side. For the first time ever all of the elementary students in their town are 2 blocks away from the high school. Both elementaries got dressed in costume and paraded to the high school where the highschoolers were also in costume and had booths all around the track handing out candy. What a great time for all of the kids!!! That makes for a special Halloween memory for sure!!!

Final Thoughts…

Well, Pool Boy and I ended the night with TWO minature candy bars left – only because after the last family cleaned us out and I laughed about no leftovers they put 2 back!!! LOL!!! (Actually, I told them to take all the candy!) We only had two families and the first family treated US to half loaves of oat strusel bread, and pumpkin/chocolate chip bread STILL WARM!!! I think we got the better end of the deal, don’t you? Until tomorrow, have a great first day of November, say a prayer for your town’s teachers, and God Bless!!!
