So, I’m typing this at 2:38am so IF I make multiple errors in spelling, grammar, or if I seem to ramble and not stay on point, remember most people are sleeping at 2:38am so please try to forgive my mistakes. Heck, I don’t even have my glasses on! But then again, if I make it through this post and remain on point topic wise, with minimum number of errors remember It’s way too early to be thinking like this and I don’t even have my glasses on!! LOL!!
The Floating Frame!
Yesterday was our 2nd group’s Technique class and besides using the Joseph’s Coat Technique, we created the floating frame. I love the illusion of the strips floating above the card! By adhering strips of cardstock or DSP to a small section of a window sheet mat, then diecutting a shape such as the deckled circles you get this fun effect. And as you can see, there is no rhyme or reason to how you place the strips – horizontal or diagonal – both give a fun effect, don’t you think?????
I began the cards with a Very Vanilla base, a piece of DSP from the Joy Of Christmas DSP for both the mats and also the strips. FYI – these strips are cut 3/8 inch wide, but you can go larger or even have a variety of strip widths. This technique is a perfect one to use up strips laying around. Using tear and tape we adhered the strips to a window sheet mat, then used a deckled circle die to cut out the shape. To adhere to your card front, use the foam adhesive strips to get the floating illusion on your card front.
Final Thoughts Cause I’m Getting Sleepy…..
The Technique classes have quickly become one of my favorite classes. The ladies gather and enjoy their time together just as much as the class itself. Truly, this is what Stampin’ Up brings to my life. It’s not all about the papercrafting but more about the social connections. The gathering together, sharing, and enteracting is such a powerful thing. It’s the friendships, the companionship, the laughter and joy of gathering with friends. This is what makes Stampin Up so very important.
I’m getting slap happy and tired here so it’s time to close and go back to sleep. We are off to Kansas City in a few hours for the upcoming Chiefs game tonight, then I will be in and out the next two days participating in a crop here in Macon. You know, that gathering and enteracting thing! Until next time, keep crafting, keep stamping, and God Bless.
It’s 3:08am and I’m heading back to bed. Here’s hoping you had a good night sleep!
