Let me introduce you to our little canine diva Shelby! Megan sent this photo yesterday and it was so cute I had to share. Shelby is an 11 year old Shorkie – shitzu/yorkie – that was a retirement gift from my elementary students in Shelby County. Hence, her name! Doesn’t everyone want a puppy for a retirement gift????? As an elementary music teacher I had my kids several years in succession, so we knew each other very well. The last two years of teaching I had to say goodbye to two dear pets, and the kids knew how hard that was for me. So, when asked what to give me as a gift, the dog was the first choice of both elementary schools!
When we travel Megan and our son Evan take turns keeping her. She’s terrorized by either Megan’s dog Lucy or Evan’s cat Banana (and also the 14 month old toddler) so she will be thrilled for us to be home. I asked Megan how she was doing and her response was “besides clearly asking to speak to the manager when she feels we are late with her dinner, she’s fine!”
