The March Insert For Our 6×12 Frame!

I’m on a mission to locate a plant. I’ve checked out several stores and florists to find the elusive shamrock plant, and I’ve yet to find one!!! Nobody around has one for purchase. At this rate I may have to check the fake plants at Hobby Lobby or Michaels to find one. We have to make a quick run to Columbia today so I have a couple of spots to check there, so maybe I’ll be lucky.

Last night was our Stamp ‘n Sip group, and we first gathered for an early dinner, then zipped across the street to craft. This 6×12 frame is quickly becoming one of my favorites, and it’s fun to design the monthly inserts. Next month we are focusing on Easter, and I think it’s time to call Kait in for some sugar cookie decorating as well!

To start the frame, I began with a 6×12 piece of Lemon Lime Twist two-tone card stock. I am so thankful that we have the 12×12 packages of two-tone card stock to match our color collection. Over the years when we didn’t have 12×12 card stock I spent time searching at the big box hobby stores trying to match our colors, and rarely succeeded. If you are a monochromatic person like me – I really love to create with multiple shades of one color – it’s difficult trying to match shades. Garden Green is a great color to add to the Lemon Lime Twist. I love Granny Apple Green, but I think it’s pairs best with Shaded Spruce – I want more than a subtle contrast of shades.

For the black pot, I tried different things. First I stamped it on basic white and didn’t like the inked image. Even with reinking my memento pad I couldn’t get a dark, rich image on white. Next, I tried the lighter side of the black two-tone card stock, but again, not rich enough. I actually stamped it on the dark side of the black two-tone card stock, and that worked! The image was easy to fancy cut, yet the image was solid and rich.

A touch of gold embossing powder was perfect for the coins, and the letters were added to the frame with adhesive sheets. I find myself turning to those adhesive sheets more and more – they are perfect for detailed and small dies that have little surface area for liquid glue.
