I am sad to say that although I have several packages of the Velvet Meadow Specialty DSP at home I’ve yet to open and study this beautiful paper. An order came in right before we left and other than opening the package, I didn’t have time to look over the new products in the shipment. This DSP is in that product pile.
Luckily for me, Emily Kimmey of EMK Designs selected the Velvet Meadows Suite to share with the Accountability Group!!! Below are her card designs using the DSP color combination as her starting point.

Isn’t this a beautiful card? I’m working from just the picture above, but it looks like she used Cloud Cover and Berry Burst for her card stocks, then she used two coordinating DSP patterns for the design.

I love the delicate floral dies included in the Flowering Meadows bundle, available May 5 from the May-August catalog. The full color combination is : Basic Beige, Berry Burst, Bubble Bath, Cloud Cover, Daffodil Delight, Peaceful Pine.

Emily loves a good challenge when it comes to using scraps for card making, so you can see she took her scraps to create visually appealing backgrounds with the DSP through the use of random rectangular shapes. The Dreamy Flowers gems were used as well for embellishing.

These card layouts are perfect for stretching your DSP, and would work together well for a beginner’s card making class. And I totally forgot to mention this DSP has flocked florals on some of the DSP patterns!
Even though the Accountability group members have different card styles, there is so much value in sharing our displays with each other. I’m already looking at a couple of the above designs but being a “mat snob”, I want to add some additional card stock mats for added layers and color.
And when it comes to my Waterside Retreat cards, Emily can simplify my layouts by removing card stock layers. Swaps and shoebox shares are a great tool for spring boarding your designs and layouts, and by adding a twist you incorporate your preferred style into the finished result!
Here’s hoping you have had a chance to check out the new catalog which goes live May 5. Has this beautiful DSP and the coordinating products landed on your wish list yet?? Hopefully it has, but where as mine is sitting on the kitchen island waiting for me to open it, I suggest you jump right in creating some of the simple cards above. Play around and add additional card stock mats for added color and variety!
And until next time, keep stamping, keep crafting, and God Bless!
