I’m excited about the upcoming August Paper Pumpkin kit – Time For Cake!!!! This kit is including an additional stamp set – NUMBERS!!!! And it has the “th”, “rd”, “nd”, and “st” stamps as well!!!! Thank you Stampin’ Up!!! First – ha, notice that 1st usage? – these numbers are the perfect size for a card – not too big, not too small. They are the perfect size to add to a card without overshadowing the design.
Second, they are a classic design -not too cutesy and childish. Perfect for any age, any celebration. And I am thankful for the endings for sure so that’s third. I save all of my Paper Pumpkin stamps and when I need a “th”, I go digging through the basket looking for a stamp that has a word with “th” in it, then I get busy cutting and destroying my stamp to use those two letters. So fourth, no more destroying my stamps to create my own suffixes for my ordinal numbers!!
Bring on a birthday bash with elegant birthday cards made with rose gold details! Here’s what’s included in the August Paper Pumpkin kit:
• Makes 9 cards, 3 each of 3 designs
• Project includes printed card bases, coordinating envelopes, and labels
• Embellishments and rose gold cord
• Coordinating colors: Moody Mauve, Night of Navy (Classic Stampin’ Spot), Petal Pink,
Pecan Pie, Pretty in Pink, Wild Wheat
Want the kit but not a monthly subscription??? It’s possible!!! To order your Paper Pumpkin kit with the additional number stamps and suffixes, you can purchase a one month prepaid code for $24 dollars and we can have it delivered to your home, OR I can increase the number of kits I receive for August and you can pick it up at my house! Of course, large increments of months on prepaid codes and an automatic subscription are available with additional savings, but not necessary! Contact me to purchase this kit before August 10 OR when stock is depleted. Sometimes our kits with extra stamp sets sell out before the final date.
A Quick Recap On Quadrant Stamping!
For my Tech classes this month we are using the Quadrant Stamping technique, and I wanted to show you a couple of pictures on the process. When you are stamping the scored mat, you want to stay close to the score lines and you will end up with somewhat of a cross shape when finished.
These were the two stampsets we used, and everyone was able to stamp both mats. I started with a full sheet of card stock, scored at 5 1/2 inch, turn the paper one quarter turn and score again at 4 1/4. When you are finished with your stamped cross, you then trim the mats by first cutting the score lines, then trimming down to desired size (in this instance we wanted 4 by 5 1/4 inch mats).
Afterwards, everyone had a variety of cardbases, mats, dies, and labels to finish their cards how they wanted. There were baskets with ribbon and gems available, and all of the cards were different! Lots of decisions to make but everyone had fun learning this new technique to stamp multiple mats quickly.
Some things to keep in mind when using the Quadrant Stamping technique:
- Less Is More!!! Do not get over zealous and fill the page with stamps! We are trying to make a cross, not DSP!!
- Stamp the largest stamp first!!! Easier to start with the big images on an empty page and then fill in with smaller stamps!!
- Unless you LOVE to color I would suggest stamps that are solid versus an outline image. The idea is to be able to create multiple mats quickly.
- Use at least 3 colors of ink to give you good contrast
- Don’t over-think this!!! The idea is to create mats QUICKLY! You are NOT designing the Sistine Chapel ceiling!
We are heading to St. Louis tomorrow to see Megan’s family and to attend the performance of Carmen. At least I AM ATTENDING – Pool Boy chose to stay home with Fiona. He wasn’t excited about a three hour opera in French! Imagine that?????? Until tomorrow, have a great day, try doing this fun technique, and God Bless!
