Good morning everyone!!!! I’m looking outside the window and seeing a sunny sky, and here in Destin we may not see much of the total eclipse happening throughout the United States. Nora and Fiona have activities at school today centered around the eclipse, as I’m sure most schools will. I heard that hotels located in the range of the total eclipse had been sold out months ago, and I’m sure the roads will be packed with people driving for a glance of this solar phenomenon.
Building A Color Combo With The Triadic Part Of The Color Wheel
I’ve never given lots of thought to my color combinations in paper crafting. Stampin’ Up has them built in with the colors used in the DSP packages, but I also just pull some colors and look at them in the light to see how they look. Most of us have been schooled in the use of the basic color wheel, knowing red, blue, and yellow are the three primary colors. And if you mix two primary colors together you get the complimentary colors of purple, orange, and green. That’s probably all we knew unless we were art majors in college.
Today I played with the TRIADIC combo on our color wheel. Triadic refers to three colors evenly spaced on the color wheel. In the above combo I have Lost Lagoon, Petunia Pop, and Peach Pie. Now, keep in mind that my supplies are limited! I had all three colors in card stock but not in the blends, so I substituted the dark Summer Splash blend since I’m missing the Lost Lagoon blend. I stamped the floral image from the new Country Flowers stamp set along with one of the greetings in memento black on the white label. I add pattern and interest to the Peach Pie mat I also stamped the same floral image with the Peach Pie ink – a tone on tone effect.
Adding the Petunia Pop ribbon and the in color shimmer dot embellishments finished the card and tied everything together cohesively. NOT a color combo I would have put together on my own, but I like it!

Our Destin Adventures!
Yesterday we simply had a quiet day at the resort. This trip is all about relaxing and just kicking back. We finally ventured away from the resort for an early dinner at one of the favorite spots around for locals – Dewey Destin’s!
Kind of rough looking???? Yep! More a shack instead of a restaurant! This is the original location, but they have also built a beautiful restaurant on the edge of the water. Been to both, and got to say THE SHACK one is the best of the two!!!
And, while you are there you have an audience watching you!!!! They did not venture close, so not an issue, but their eyes are forever watching!!! There are multiple places for seating, but we always prefer a spot on the pier if available.
Fried shrimp again???? Absolutely!!! Try to disregard the old picnic table we are seated at – it simply adds to the ambience!!! LOL!
Time to go because the beach is calling. Here is hoping you have a great day doing what you love, that you find some time to craft and create, and God Bless!!!!
