I’m sitting in Destin feeling like a kid stuck inside during recess! I’m ready to head to the pool BUT it dawned on me I’ve yet to write this post! So here I sit, looking outside at the beautiful weather while I sit inside doing my “homework”. I don’t remember ever losing my recess due to homework not completed. It probably did happen but in all likelihood my name would have been on the board because I talked too much! Now, that I DO remember!
So this week we are talking about volunteering our papercrafting talents as a way to help others, and today’s tale is centered around card ministries. Many crafters have introduced card ministries to their church and there are multiple ways to do so:
- gather a group to create cards for the church office or members to send to those sick, unable to attend, etc.
- create cards that children from Sunday School can sign and send to our elderly church family
- create cards to send to the entire church family for special days in the church year
- create cards to share with nursing home residents
One of my dear stamping friends – who I taught with for over 20 years! – uses her papercrafting talents to lift others up with beautiful words and scriptures of encouragement. Chris has been involved in many Cursillo groups through her church, and she shared her talent by volunteering to teach a card class to ladies in a prayer group!!! They received her handmade cares and wanted to learn how to make them! She showed them cards she had made, gathered her Stampin’ Up supplies, and put them to work making cards!!!!

Chris (she’s the one standing behind the ladies on the left of the picture) shared with her friends about card ministries, then shared some cards she received when her father passed. She encouraged these friends to send the cards they made to friends they are praying for, and they shared who would be receiving their cards. Chirs – I am so very proud of you sharing your talents with these ladies!!!! You are a rock star my friend! Love you!
Cards with words of encouragement are such a powerful way to lift others up. If you’ve yet to start a card ministry in your church I encourage you to do so – those receiving and those creating will be equally blessed!
And now, I’ve completed my work and can head on out to “recess”. It’s time for IN PERSON BINGO so will be posting info tomorrow!!!!! Until then, have a blessed day my friends!!!
