As I type this post we are tucked up for the night in Tucumcari, New Mexico. Now that town name probably means little to you but I’ve actually been through this town many times as a child. My grandmother lived in southern California so most years of my childhood we made the pilgrimage from my hometown of Warrensburg, Mo to Mecca, CA in a drive of two and a half days. My father ALWAYS made sure we made it to Tucumcari the first night – never failed! The second night was in Flagstaff or Williams, AZ and we would hit Indio, CA for lunch at a little Mexican restraurant he liked, then it was south for about 8 miles to Mecca. Past the grape fields and date groves (which by the way had delicious DATE SHAKES!). It was a whirl wind trip visiting not only my grandmother but several aunts and uncles and if we were lucky we had a day at Knotts Berry Farm or Disneyland. Tomorrow we travel to Paysen then on to Phoenix for the big festivities!
Today’s card continues with the Nested Friends Bundle and the Delicate Desert DSP, but I’ve added a a special die cut from Fancy Frames. Instead of using card stock however, I ran the frame die with the Soft Succulent pattern from the DSP. It’s very delicate but cut much better than cardstock which sometimes is too heavy for intricate die cuts. After stamping the bird, I added Smoky Slate and Dark Succulent and Light Evening Evergreen blends to add color. There are multiple two leaf dies included in the Nested Friends Bundle, so I ran all of them, then with touches of tombow glue on the stem tip I added leaves around the bird’s image.
The Fabulous Frame die cut is carefully glued to a Basic White mat, and then I simply stamped a greeting from the set inside the rectangular opening. I added an additional mat of Evening Evergreen to this piece, and adhered it with dimensionals to the card front. The embellishing of the card includes the Evening Evergreen open-weave ribbon (seriously, if you’ve not tried these ribbons you need to before they retire!!) and the 2021-2023 In Color Opal Rounds. Just a few weeks left to work with these colors – truly my favorite in colors we’ve had.
Final Thought…
So, we decided we were only wearing Chiefs shirts this trip – yes, we have that many! – so everywhere we got out, people asked about the game. We just had dinner at a wonderful diner and a couple came over to visit with us. The man asked if we were Chief fans, and I said, no we were rooting for the Eagles!! LOL Anyways, they are also going to the game and it just so happens their daughter knows the Eagles’ coach very well – she’s married to him!!! Gaurantee their seats are alot better than ours!!!! LOL!!! Until next time, keep stampin, keep craftin, and God Bless!
