Woo Hoo!!! It’s heatwave time!!! We are up to 15 AND MIGHT reach 30 later today! When you have spent the last week in the negative numbers, 30 sounds like heaven! But here in Missouri, we know if you don’t like the weather today, just wait til tomorrow. We will be back in the negatives by the end of Friday so we just have to go with it. It’s the ups and downs of the midwest!
Truckin’ Along With The Perennial Postage Dies!!!
We’ve been looking at dies from the Spring Mini Catalog that deserve some love, even if we don’t care for the corresponding stamp set. We are so ingrained in purchasing bundles (the stamp set and dies combination for 10% savings) that many times we miss that some dies that are great in their own right.
So far we have studied the Everyday Details and also the Thoughtful Expressions die sets, and today we will work with the Perennial Postage dies. EVERY DIE in this set is usable WITHOUT the stamp set!!!! And because they are basic shapes such as squares and rectangles, you can use then multiple times with multiple stamp sets!!!!
In the card above I used the Perennial Postage die as the top label for the greeting. To make the edging stand out I matted it on a Pretty Peacock rectangle cut with my paper cutter. I COULD have used the next larger die to cut the mat, but if you have been following me awhile, you know I prefer narrow mat margins. Look at the next picture though!
In this card I reversed them!!! The top white rectangle has been cut with my paper cutter, giving me straight edges. The Blueberry Bushel mat was cut with the Perennial Postage dies. AND because I wanted the edging on the mat to be more pronounced, I deliberately left it with a wider border than the card above. This set of dies is so versatile because it can be used in many ways with so many stampsets.
Final Thoughts….
I encourage you to go back and study the dies by themselves on pages 67-73 of the Spring Mini Catalog. Try to look past the stampset and just focus on the die shapes to see which ones can stand alone. And while you are at it, do the same with the Annual Catalog as well!!! We love flowers and dies that make life easier without having to fussy cut, but the basic shapes and label dies give us so much bang for our buck because of their versatility!
These two cards are part of an online class I’ll be offering in late February. There will be 8-10 projects using the Truckin’ Along bundle as well as the Glorious Gingham DSP, so be watching for more details!!! Until next time, keep trucking along, keep stamping, keep crafting, and God Bless!!!!
