Spring is my favorite season of all. I look forward to it’s arrival so that color comes back into our world! Spring flowers are my favorite with daffodils, hyacinth, and iris blooming and flowering shrubs like lilac and forsythia competing with crabapple, redbud, and dogwood. All of those flowers, shrubs and trees are found in our yard EXCEPT for the elusive dogwood!!! Believe me, I have tried. I have had a pink dogwood, a white dogwood, as well as a kosa dogwood, but some reason they do not want to live in my yard. I plant them in the spring so they have time to establish their roots, I water them religiously, and protect them from the deer that roam freely, but no luck. Not to be I guess. Then we drive to south Missouri and they grow wild in the woods!!!! ERK.
The Detailed Dogwood Stamp Set From Saleabration!!!!
Thankfully, Stampin’ Up has created a stamp set that let’s me enjoy the flowering dogwood with my papercrafting at least!!! The Detailed Dogwood stamp set is one of the free items available in the Saleabration brochure. At a $100 order item it’s difficult to come by as well, but so worth it. I love the beautiful flowering branch as well as the smaller budding one, but also all of the other little stamps that add character to the set.
Bokeh techniques involve areas of some-what out of focus light circles on a dark surface, so the reversal would be dark circles on a light surface, right??? I punched 3-4 circles out of a scrap piece of paper, then used the mat as a guide to add circles of color to the white mat with a blending brush or sponge dauber. Some are larger, some are smaller, some intersect like a Venn diagram! I simply started with one color, and began layering in circular colors until I had the effect I was happy with.
Then, using the same inks, I added stamps from the Detail Dogwood. The label dies came from the Everyday Details die set, and my “Hello Spring” came from the Excellent Eggs stamp set. Throw in some embellishments of ribbon and gems (and in case you don’t know, I always say my ribbon/gems are free game! I TRY to use current products, but on occcasion these retired products may show up!) and you have a bright, cheery card able to bring a smile to the recipient!

Final Thoughts…..
We are in a gray time of the year right now – currently we are dealing with light fog, gray skies, barren trees with gray bark, and kind of gray yards with dormant grass. it’s not surprising that spring is my favorite season with the return of color to our landscape! I get almost giddy with the arrival of green grass. Pool Boy doesn’t agree with me though.
That’s when Pool Boy begins to assume the title of Lawn Guy with mowing!!!! Until next time, have a great day, find time to do whatever makes you happy, and God Bless!
