The Art of Pivoting as a Stamper

There are so many changes the majority of us have made since COVID came to be. We have hand sanitizer and masks in all of our vehicles and it’s become second nature to reach for it after going into a store or putting in gas. As a teacher we are much more aware of our aches, pains, and sniffles and staying home to keep from spreading the germs. In the past, we teachers would POWER THROUGH and TOUGHEN UP to get through the day because it was much easier to be there than to deal with sub plans and busy work while we were under the weather. Pivoting has become an everyday mental action – adjust plans, avert situations, and become FLEXIBLE daily! Pivoting happens with stamping, paper crafting, and Stampin’ Up! as well!

Today WAS going to be about fast Christmas cards using the Gingerbread and Peppermint Memories and More Cards but in less than 24 hours from when I mentioned it in my last post, the cards went on backorder, currently unavailable, to no longer available and sold out! So I have to PIVOT!

So We Switch To The New Upcoming Mini Catalog!!

The Heart and Home Suite in the upcoming new Mini catalog has a vintage look with floral prints on one side of the DSP. And the reversal is very unique – all white wash wood trim in different sizes and layouts. Very different but the DSP will be very versatile for cards designed for men or women!

Using the Water Color Pencils From the Annual Catalog!

Before Stampin’ Up! introduced their line of alcohol based markers, we had watercolor pencils to add color to images. It’s easy to forget they are still available since the blends are so easy to use. Since this suite has a vintage look I chose to color with our pencils. If you haven’t ever used the pencils, consider giving them a try BUT be sure to purchase the Blender Pens as well. As you can see in the two images above, the blender pen smooths the lines and streaks of the pencil marks!

Color Combination Used:

There are two sets of watercolor pencils in the annual catalog – be sure to check out the colors in each set. After coloring and blending, I added Wink Of Stella to the flower centers and in the shaded areas.
